Know Your Rights!

Versión en Español

If ICE is at your door, at your car or you see them in your neighborhood, immediately call the DIRE hotline 888-DIRE-SOS:

888-347-3767

DON’T OPEN THE DOOR. It is your right.

ICE can’t enter your building without a warrant signed by a judge. They almost never have one. Call DIRE.

REMAIN SILENT

Anything you say CAN be used against you. Assert your rights by saying, “I choose to remain silent until I speak with a lawyer.” Don’t lie, but never say you are from another country.

IF YOU ARE DRIVING:

Close windows and lock doors. Ask why they stopped you. Who are you? Please show me your ID. Do you have a judicial warrant with my name? After – Am I free to go? If not – I do not give permission for searches of my car or fingerprinting. Passengers shouldn’t leave vehicle or talk.

DON’T SIGN ANYTHING

Don’t sign ANYTHING without an attorney. Do NOT give them foreign identification. Don’t say where you are from.

DOCUMENT AND REPORT

Take pictures and videos. Write badge numbers, number of agents, type of cars, and what happens.

AT WORKPLACES:

DO NOT ALLOW ICE agents to enter non-public areas without a search warrant. Mark areas as PRIVATE.
